When Tragedy Strikes
Trauma Intervention Programs, Inc
When tragedy happens, TIP is there.
Welcome to Trauma Intervention Programs, Inc.
If you’ve found your way to this website, it’s likely because you or someone you care about has experienced a tragic event. Please know that we are deeply sorry for the pain and hardship you are facing.
This site is here to support you during this challenging time by providing essential information to help you cope in the immediate aftermath of a tragedy.
Tragedies often leave survivors feeling unprepared and overwhelmed. You may find yourself asking:
Why do I feel this way?
Why is the "system" responding as it is?
What should I do next?
Our resources aim to help you understand these questions and guide you through the initial steps toward healing and recovery.
This website is also a resource for those who want to support survivors of tragedy. If you’re unsure how to help, we offer guidance on providing Emotional First Aid. Learn about what survivors need most, what to say (and what not to say), and how to navigate the "system" to offer meaningful assistance.
Whether you’re a survivor facing tragedy yourself or someone seeking to support a loved one, our goal is to provide information that makes this difficult journey just a little easier.
You are not alone, and we are here to help.
With heartfelt compassion,
The Staff of Trauma Intervention Programs, Inc.
Our Mission
Our citizen volunteers provide emotional first aid to survivors of tragedy in order to ease their immediate suffering and facilitate their healing and long term recovery.
Support for Communities
Survivors of tragedy get a higher level of care in Lane County because TIP is involved. TIP contributes more than 60,000 hours of volunteer time per year to the community. Having TIP on a scene lowers the stress level of emergency workers and helps them focus on the details of their job.
"The volunteer from TIP was so valuable to me and my daughter when my husband passed suddenly. Thank you for providing this to our community."
